It all begins with an idea. A day-to-night effect applied to a matte painting with original photography by me.

Another day-to-night effect applied to a matte painting, however, without original photography this time. I found this image through Pexels but felt I could achieve a nice composition with it. My pipeline for this was simpler, mainly because I focused on technique instead of taking it into Nuke. I stayed in Photoshop to hone my skills in building integration and cleanup.

Collaboration with many artists on the short film called The Space Messenger (2024). I completed four matte paintings, one being the planet and the rest being star-filled backgrounds.

City over Mist
The base plate is inspired by Lake Ouachita, Arkansas, a location I visited while spending time with my family. The lake's natural beauty influenced the design, leading to the inclusion of a large planet and foreground elements, with a focus on the central mountain and castle. The goal was to reflect the scale and tranquility of the lake’s surroundings. I hope to collaborate with another artist to develop a composition featuring a small boat approaching a dock at a modest port along the canal. From there, one could pass through the mountain pass to reach the hidden palace. The mood is intended to be subtle and serene, with color correction used to maintain visual continuity, particularly through shades of deep blue.
